The Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Ministry
of Jal Shakti, Govt. of India is conducting 7th Minor Irrigation & 2nd Water Bodies Census
through State Government allotted Enumerators and Supervisors at Block, District and State
level. The mobile application will be used by enumerators for data collection on Ground
water schemes, Surface water schemes and Water Bodies at village/ward level.
The mobile application enables users to collect and manage census data related to Water
bodies, Ground water schemes, Surface Water schemes and Villages across different regions.
It is designed to support offline / online data entry, ensuring that information can be
captured even in remote areas with or without an internet connection. Once online, the
data is synchronized with the central server. The canvassed schedules are stored in the
mobile app and edit/delete options are available for use.
The app is designed to capture (i) the geo-coordinates and (ii) images of all schemes/water
bodies. The mobile app uses reverse GIS technology to match current location of the
enumerator with the correct village boundary available in the system. If the enumerator is
outside the designated boundary, then app will prompt him to retake the GPS coordinates to
ensure the correct location is selected. If the correct location cannot be captured, he may
choose to bypass this step and proceed with the data collection exercise. The app also
prepopulates previous census data wherever LGD and census codes are matching for
enabling users for smooth data collection.
