Hey Buddy

Hey Buddy locks your phone when you tell it to.

Choose a phrase and record it once. After that, whenever you say it, Hey Buddy puts a lock screen over whatever app is open. To open your phone again, say your unlock phrase or type your 4-digit backup passcode.

HOW IT WORKS
• Turn on Voice Lock and allow the microphone and "Display over other apps".
• Record a lock phrase and a different unlock phrase. Two or three words work best. Before saving, Hey Buddy shows you exactly what it heard, so you know it will recognise you.
• Set a 4-digit backup passcode. The lock never turns on without one, so you cannot lock yourself out.
• Say your lock phrase any time. The lock screen covers every app, and Back and Home will not close it.

SPEAK IN YOUR OWN LANGUAGE
Your phrases can be in any language your phone's voice typing understands, including Hindi, English, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia and Bangla.

YOUR PHRASES STAY YOURS
Hey Buddy never uploads your lock phrase, unlock phrase or passcode. The passcode is stored on your phone in hashed form. Speech is recognised by your phone's own speech recognition service.

GOOD TO KNOW
• Hey Buddy listens in the background and shows a notification while it does. Allow it to ignore battery optimisation so your phone does not stop it.
• In a noisy place your phrase can be missed. Your backup passcode always works.
• The notification shade can still be pulled down over the lock screen. Android does not let any app block it.
• After you restart your phone, open Hey Buddy once to start listening again.
• Hey Buddy does not replace your phone's own screen lock (PIN, pattern or fingerprint). Keep that on as well.

SUBSCRIPTION
Hey Buddy needs a subscription, paid through UPI Autopay. It starts with a short trial. The price is shown before you pay, and you can cancel any time from your UPI app.
