The Department of Farmers' Welfare and Agriculture Development (FW&AD) brought the mobile app for ensuring the timely and equitable availability of fertilizers to the farmers of the state. Currently, the fertilizer distribution process involves multiple stakeholders, including fertilizer manufacturers, government networks (Markfed, MP Agro, and Primary Agricultural Credit Societies—PACS), and private vendors.
Despite this framework, the current system faces several challenges, such as inequitable distribution, a lack of real-time monitoring, and the failure to ensure timely availability of fertilizers to farmers. Consequently, farmers frequently encounter fertilizer shortages and delays in distribution, which adversely impacts agricultural production.
To address these challenges, the Department has proposed regulating fertilizer distribution based on farmers' land record details and season-wise cropping patterns. This mechanism will ensure that fertilizer supply aligns with actual requirements, thereby fostering greater efficiency, transparency, and accountability.
